Windows 64-bit XP, Vista, Windows 7 and other 64-bit operating
systems cannot run CharterHouse. Although there are emulation
modes for older versions of Windows, it is not possible to run CharterHouse
using any of them.
What can I do?
Contact Sales at Tamlin Software Developers (214.739.7963) to see if there is
a version of AccountMate that will run on your 64-bit computer. If there
is, they can sell AccountMate to you and - for a fee - install
AccountMate, provide training and support, and convert your CharterHouse data.
Disclaimer: The following other possibilities are
untested and/or
unsupported.
- Create a virtual machine, perhaps using Oracle's free VirtualBox, and
install a 32-bit operating system. Both AccountMate and CharterHouse work
this way
- Install a 32-bit version of Vista on your 64-bit machine
- Remove the 64-bit operating system and install some version of DOS that is
able to run 16-bit applications on your 64-bit machine
- Remove the 64-bit operating system and see if Windows 2000 or a 32-bit XP,
Vista or Windows 7 will install and run
