With an ohm meter you can check the temp sensor for correct operation.

Resistance between terminals should be :

5.9

kilohms at

32F

2.5

68F

1.18

105F

0.60

140F

0.325

176F

You could use a pan of water on the stove and check for even changes as temp increases.  A dead spot could be a problem.  Also, make sure there is no continuity between each terminal and the body of the sensor itself.  This info out the service manual.
