What this is

Our IBM OmniFind is essentially equivalent to the Yahoo! Web Search.  It crawls forums.jag-lovers.org and jaguarforums.com so that you can search those two sites for postings related to Jaguar automobiles.

Browser setup

For best results, we recommend that you use the Firefox web browser.  We will cling to the 3.6 version of Firefox until it is no longer supported because we dislike the UI (User Interface) in newer versions.  In order to cleanly display Jag-lovers results, you must install the Adblock Plus Add-on.

Actually, we recommend Adblock Plus for everyone who dislikes seeing advertisements while they surf the web.  We like Fanboy's filters, and use Fanboy's List (English), fanboy-tracking, and fanboy-annoyances.  We have disabled the EasyList (English) filter.

After installing Adblock, add these two lines
http://www.jag-lovers.org/images/*
http://www.jag-lovers.org/include/*
as custom filters.  Here's how:

Click the Custom filters tab, then change New filter group to JagLovers:

Click the Actions button, then click Show/hide filters:

Click the Add Filter button to add the include filter and again to add the images filter, then click the Close button.

If you want to add Fanboy's filters, go to Fanboy's website and click on each desired Add line in turn.  We disabled the default EasyList filters, preferring Fanboy.

You could also just turn off images in your regular browser, but that affects all browsing.  Since images are an important part of the experience, it is unlikely that you would be happy using your browser with images turned off.

Hints for searching forums.jag-lovers.org

Although you can freely read all the postings at jaguarforums.com, you must log in at forums.jag-lovers.org in order to see individual postings or subject threads.  If you just click on a result returned to your search terms, and that result is anything other than an index listing of topics, you will be prompted to enter your E-mail address and password in order to see the text of the posting.  However, if you instead click on the Cached link, OmniFind will show a copy of the posting as it was when the site was crawled and you will not need to log in.

Adding OmniFind to your web browser

If you wish to continue to use the OmniFind search engine, you can either bookmark this URL or add OmniFind to the search engines in Firefox.

As shown in the image below, click on Firefox's search engine drop down button (the triangle where the "Click here" pointer ends).

Click on "Add Jaguar Forums search."

Select this search engine when you want to search the Jaguar forums.

(Don't forget to switch back to your favorite search engine when done.)
